DNA profiles and haplogroups of famous persons
The iGENEA test allows to prove the biological relationship to famous or noble persons. Below are the DNA profiles of famous people. Compare your own DNA profile with the following DNA profiles: Maybe you're related to Tsar Nicholas Romanov, with Che Guevara or Genghis Khan?
Zar Nicholas Romanov
In July of 1991 nine bodies were exhumed from a mass grave in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Through the analysis of mitochondrial DNA these bodies could be identified as those of the Romanovs, the last Russian Czars, who had been shot to death in July of 1918.

Jesse James
In 1995 the body of the famous bandit Jesse James was exhumed. Through hair and bone samples from his grave, his DNA could be isolated and compared with the genetic profiles of his relatives who are living today.

Sven II Estridsen - the last Viking King
One of the most saga-encrusted cases of falsely attributed maternity was solved with the help of mitochondrial DNA. Sven II Estridsen (1020-1074 n.Chr.), the last Viking king of Denmark and the male ancestor of all subsequent Danish kings, was buried in Roskilde Cathedral. The remains of other Danish kings are also entombed here. According to the saga, Sven's mother was entombed in a pillar across from the chapel. Analysis of mitochondrial DNA proved, however, that this person was not Sven's mother.

Luke the Evangelist
Luke the Physician, better known as the author of the Gospel According to Luke, was born in Antioch in the Roman Province of Syria. According to the historical record, he died in Thebes in 150 A.D. His body was first buried in Constantinople until it was later brought to Padua in Italy. Here his remains were compared with the DNA of Syrian and Greek persons, which confirmed his Syrian ancestry.

Petrarca - The Italian Poet
In 2003 the remains of the fourteenth-century poet and humanist Francesco Petrarch were exhumed. His DNA were isolated from teeth and ribs. A sex test, however, revealed that the teeth were from a woman, and the ribs from a man. Petrarch's grave had been robbed in 1630, so that these remains could have come from the thieves. The rest of the skeleton could be attributed to the same person.

Thomas Jefferson - Sally Hemmings
In 1998, what is probably the most famous case of DNA-analysis was resolved with a Y-chromosome test: "Did Thomas Jefferson have children with his slave Sally Hemmings?" The DNA of five descendants of Thomas Jeffereson's paternal uncle, Field Jefferson, were analyzed, in order to investigate the Y-chromosome profile of the family. Direct male descendants of Sally Hemmings' son served as the comparison. John Weeks Jefferson, the only living descendant of Eston Hemmings, confirmed with his Y-chromosome that both families belonged to the same male line.

Colla Uais - The Ancestral Father of the Scottish Clans
An ancient king of Ireland, Colla, siezed in 325 A. D. large areas around Ulster for himself and traveled with his followers to Scotland, where he settled. His successors, Fergus, Loarn and Angus sons of Erc, became the founders of the royal Scottish dynasty Dalriada in 465 A.D. Mark E.
